Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a synthetic 28-amino acid peptide corresponding to the N-terminal sequence of prothymosin alpha, originally isolated from thymosin fraction 5 of bovine thymus tissue. CAS 62304-98-7, molecular formula C₁₃₂H₂₁₉N₃₅O₅₃, molecular weight 3108.34 g/mol. The N-terminus is acetylated, a post-translational modification present in the endogenous peptide.
Thymosin Alpha-1 is one of the most extensively studied thymic peptides in immunological research. Primary areas of investigation include T-lymphocyte biology, T-cell maturation, dendritic cell activation, and cytokine production in culture models. It has also been examined in the context of toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling, natural killer cell activity, and antigen presentation research. Note: Thymosin Alpha-1 (Zadaxin) is approved for clinical use in several countries outside the United States; this compound is supplied strictly for non-clinical laboratory research.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Each lot is independently tested by HPLC-UV with a minimum purity threshold of ≥99.0%. Molecular identity confirmed by LC-MS prior to release. Certificate of Analysis available for every lot number.
