Selank

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro, representing a modified analog of the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension. CAS 129954-34-3, molecular formula C₃₃H₅₇N₁₁O₉, molecular weight 751.86 g/mol.

Selank was originally developed and characterized at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It has been studied in preclinical and clinical research contexts for its effects on the central nervous system, with particular focus on anxiety-related behavior models, memory and learning paradigms, and GABAergic and serotonergic neurotransmitter systems. In vitro research has examined its interactions with GABA-A receptor complexes and expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It is also of interest in immunology research as a tuftsin analog, given tuftsin's role in phagocyte activation.

Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Each lot is independently tested by HPLC-UV at 218nm with a minimum purity threshold of ≥99.0%. Molecular identity confirmed by LC-MS prior to release. Certificate of Analysis available for every lot number.
